SGS Image Award

The SGS Image Award is presented to the best piece of work on geography or travel completed in the field of television, photography, video, cinema or any other technology the world of image. Not only is technical quality taken into consideration, but also the driving spirit behind the work.

2004. To Hugo Geiger and Francisco Candela, they have worked on documentaries, books and photographs on the depths of the sea over the course of 30 years. Their work under the sea has been recognized with numerous national and international awards.

2003. To Canal Viajar. This year it was awarded to the first channel thematically dedicated to travel in Spain for the quality of their programming and for acting as a window into the world of travel, exploration, adventure and the reality of the world for thousands of people.

2002. To the Documentary Production Company, Transglobe for their "Proyecto Kraken en busca del calamar gigante" ("Kraken Project: in Search of the Giant Squid")

2001. Cristina García Rodero, for her magnificent professional career and for the her photography work as a whole.

2000. Lorenzo Milá and Fran Llorente on behalf of La 2 Noticias de TVE (Spanish News Program) for its permanent interest in geographic and environmental issues.

1999. Juan Echeverría, photographer from Madrid, for his outstanding photographs and his commitment to popularizing and travelling which is so close to the spirit and the objectives of the SGS.

1998. Luis Miguel Dominguez, for his documentary " Vietnam , vida tras la muerte" (" Vietnam , life through death").
